The Change Institute will be the newest program for Change Inc. and will focus on training caring adults (teachers, administrators, therapists, etc.) to best meet community mental health needs. By formalizing this work, we will provide a trained, diverse workforce prepared to serve children and families facing complicated barriers.
Key Activities
Clinical Supervision – Change Institute works with employees and contractors to provide required clinical supervision hours for mental health clinical trainees and professionals serving children and families. Through funding from the Department of Human Services, we focus this activity on training trainees and professional from communities of color and provide assistance in license exam preparation and fees.
Professional Development Opportunities – Change Institute will provide at least four professional development opportunities for mental health clinical trainees and professionals throughout FY20, including a 30-hour Clinical Supervision course (twice), Ethics Training, and Play Therapy Training.
Internal Family Systems – 10 Change Inc staff members are trained in Internal Family Systems – a model for exploring our emotional inner-world in order to be present and centered in relationship with others. Change Inc. utilizes this model to train teachers and school staff to understand their own social emotional health and that of their students.
